From Language

I grew up in a bilingual household, regularly interpreting the context of the words spoken around me before I could identify different languages. As an artist, I consider all my works to be translations of one kind or another – moving thoughts into materials, transforming one material into another, or shifting spatial relationships from three dimensions into two. The pieces here are early expressions of this idea, some of the first moments I realized how much language, contextual understanding, and visual patterning play in my work.
